FIR Sensor-enabled Windshield

What is a FIR Sensor-enabled Windshield?

A special material that transmits far-infrared rays (FIR) is integrated into a section of the windshield to facilitate the "integrated mounting of a visible camera and FIR camera" on the inside of the windshield. (Under development)

Features and benefits

01

The FIR camera can be installed in a high position

Compared to an FIR camera mounted around the front grille, an FIR camera integrated onto the windshield is less affected by preceding vehicles and obstacles. This integration enables early object detection due to its long range and wide field of view.
02

The FIR camera remains effective in all weather conditions

The FIR camera is installed in the wiping area. The wiper action keeps the front of the camera clean and ensures sensing functionality even in rain or inclement weather.
03

Low parallax between visible cameras and FIR cameras

Helps to overlay images and is beneficial for sensor fusion by placing the visible and FIR cameras in close proximity to each other.
04

A safe drive ensured even in dark night conditions

Improves night vision performance and helps reduce traffic accidents through pedestrian detection.
