Highly Resistant Glass Chemically Tempered
What is Highly Resistant Glass Chemically Tempered ?
Highly Resistant glass is made using a chemical reinforcement process which greatly improves the mechanical resistance (6 to 8 times stronger than annealed glass)
Features and benefits
01
Weight watcher
Highly Resistant glass allows a decrease in glass thickness, reducing weight whilst maintaining strength
02
Unique optical quality
Perfect optical quality, no shading or strain pattern.
03
For any Transport or Industrial vehicle
Available in any glass thickness. For transport and industrial vehicles applications, AGC usually uses glass between 0.7mm and 25mm.
Technical information
01
Chemical tempering
Highly Resistant glass is made using a chemical reinforcement process. Glass is immersed in a high temperature bath to replace sodium ions (Na) with potassium ions(K) putting the glass surface in compression, making the glass substantially more resistant to mechanical shocks and thermal stresses.
02
Quality
Highly Resistant glass keeps its initial flatness and optical quality with no strain pattern, as if it was annealed glass (unlike thermally tempered glass).
03
Safe laminated glass
Highly Resistant glass maintains residual visibility after breakage unlike thermally tempered glass which brakes in very small pieces which prevents acceptable visibility. Therefore, Very High Resistant glass is laminated to consider it as a safety glass.
04
Weight optimization
At equivalent performances, Highly Resistant glass allowing the use of thinner glass giving the benefits of reductions in both weight and thickness.
05
Used all around the vehicle
Typically used for windshields, lightweight side windows or interior glass
