Laminated Acoustic Glass
What is Laminated Acoustic Glass?
The lamination process bonds two pieces of glass together using an acoustic plastic interlayer sheet, giving a stronger structure that is harder to break.
The plastic interlayer improves acoustic performance, giving strong reductions of external noise for a more comfortable and focused drive.
Features and benefits
01
Quiet drive for best EV experience
Strong reduction of traffic and surrounding noises, for a more comfortable journey
Enables people to speak without shouting
Reduces traffic noise but powerful external sounds (horns, sirens, etc.), necessary for safety, remain audible
02
Safer glass
Safer in the event of accidents: in case of glass breakage, prevents sharp shards of glass from being propelled inside the vehicle
03
Intrusion resistance
Efficient against break-ins: slows down intrusion attempts (typically by more than 10 minutes)
04
Material protection
Prevents the interior of the vehicle from color fading on surfaces such as the dashboard, fabrics, and leather seats
05
Allows thinner glass
Enables a reduction in the thickness of the windshield without adversely affecting noise levels
Technical information
01
What is Laminated Acoustic glass?
The lamination process bonds two pieces of glass together using an acoustic plastic interlayer sheet, giving a stronger structure that is harder to break.
02
Safety and Security: limited intrusion risk
The plastic interlayer holds glass pieces together in case of breakage, reducing the risk of flying shards of glass or passenger ejection outside the vehicle in case of accident.
Requires up to 10 minutes to penetrate the glazing, giving increased protection against theft, intrusion, or carjacking
03
Strong noise reduction
The plastic interlayer improves acoustic performance, giving strong reductions of external noise for a more comfortable and focused drive.
It also reduces wind noise which is increasingly audible and intrusive at speeds above 70 km/h. It can also reduce noise coming from the engine, air friction, road surface and passing vehicles. It enhances the in-car experience.
