Tempered Glass Temperlite™
Tempered glass is produced by heating glass to near its bending point (approx. 650℃) and rapidly cooling the surface uniformly with air.
Features and benefits
01
Temperlite offers outstanding impact resistance: three to five times stronger than ordinary glass at the same thickness.
02
Safe in the event of accidents or glass breakage: it breaks into small chunks, it significantly reduces the risk of serious injury or harm.
03
Specific glazing combined with chemical tempering treatments can offer significantly stronger and more resistant glazing while reducing the weight of your car.
Technical information
01
Glass produced by this special process has enhanced strength and is used mainly for the rear and side windows of vehicles.
02
When the glass is subjected to tensile force, it is counteracted by the surface compressive stress. Tempered glass is three to five times stronger than ordinary glass at the same thickness.
03
What happens if breakage?
It has the characteristic of fracturing instantly if broken into small 'nuggets'. As there are no sharp, knife-like shards, it is unlikely to cause serious injury. This is why tempered glass is also known as safety glass.
